Suits, sport coats, dress shirts and ties along with slacks, jeans, polo shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, and more are offered. We feature Milroy's Formal Wear tuxedo and suit rentals and are one of their top independent retailers for over 40 years, providing top of the line tuxedo and suit rentals. Squire Promo, a division of Squire Shoppe, offers promotional products and apparel for any occasion. What makes the business unique?

This location was established in 1913 as Krause Brothers men's clothing store. It was later acquired in 1974 and the name was changed to Squire Shoppe.

Menswear is one of a few remaining independent clothing stores in Northwest Iowa. We are a family-owned and operated business that gives you the one on one attention that is deserved. It's always a pleasure to see customers come to us and know that they'll be treated right in their selection of clothing, or for formal wear rentals.

Is your business involved in any community initiatives or charitable activities that you want to share?

An Avera foundation was established in 2016 in memory of Becky Vander Tuig. This endowment was established in her honor to help young families with unexpected expenses incurred during their medical situation. We are blessed to be in a community that has been very generous in helping us contribute to this cause. What drew you to start your business in our community?

The Vander Tuig family purchased Squire Shoppe in 1981. We were looking for a long-term clothing store location in an area that we knew, and was supported by the community. We are so pleased with the decision made many years ago. Spencer is one awesome community!!

Do you have a fun fact you want to share Maybe a story about the first dollar you earned?

When I first started in business, I remember thinking...what can I do to make this a success. The answer was easy. Don't oversell anyone, treat them with respect, and have patience. Boy...have we been blessed.

How long have you been in business?

2024 is Squire Shoppe's 50th year in business. It is also my personal 50th year in menswear. Time flies! Enjoy life!! Bob Vander Tuig
